Shifting: uncomfortable Process, great Fruit

For most of us, shifting is a PROCESS,
not always easy,
but letting God grow-us-up bears great fruit.

We are schooled by our society,
and sometimes by our religion,
that change comes fast and easy.

And it does and it can - on the spiritual level.

But bringing our shifted spiritual experience
into the body, into the world
- this is a whole different thing
- something that by default, takes TIME and SPACE.

.
Healing and spiritual transformation
is a Process for most folks, not a one-time event.

This is something You must do, spiritually:
No one can do it for you!

AND, there is much help available,
when you choose to accept it.

.
It is not always easy,
it is not always fun.

But, when you make these changes,
these spiritual choices:

your life and your world turns around
- you live in a different reality!

.
Life without all the Darkness weighing upon us
is a revelation, a revolution, a miracle, a blessing!

We open to an entirely new and lighter way of being.
We can be Free; filled with Love, Ease & Grace;
and Move Forward in Life, Abundantly!

We can Choose to grow into our Maturity

We can keep going the way we are going,
doing what we are doing,
getting what we are getting:

Or we can shift.

We can learn to CHOOSE spiritually:
to Live, to Be, to Act from a spiritual perspective!

We can allow God to grow-us-up
into our MATURITY in Christ.

We are called to spiritually Choose
to exercise our free-will, in our own space, our own life:
- Have Dominion: exercise the responsibility God gave us in our own lives.
- Reclaim the Authority God gave us in our own space, and in our world.

.
Jesus did this;
he showed us the Way in this;
and he calls us to Follow Him!

As we grow up in Christ,
we acknowledge our spiritual center,
our spiritual calling.

We also find that spiritual warfare that is real:
within us and in the world.

.
We can Choose to let God grow-us-up,
to become Spiritual Adults, as we do this, we:
  • We face our own evil, our own shadow, our own dark side... and we let God bring Light.
  • We let go of negative influences upon us; move out the Darkness, allow more Light.
  • We start to powerfully, consciously BE and ACT in the world, as Disciples of Christ.
.
Letting-go of negative influences,
from within us and from outside of us,

can mean letting go of energies, habits, lies, programming, etc.
that is not who we are in God.

It can also mean letting go of unclean spirits:
'spiritual personalities' that are not-in-alignment-with-God.

.
But that is not enough,
if one is to stay FREE,
and take up the reins of our lives as spiritual adults.

We must let God HEAL us.
We are called to spiritually choose
to close the spiritual 'doors' through which these energies enter:
  • letting go of influences, habits, beliefs, emotions that get in the way of our authority in our own space;
  • taking responsibility for our own space, our own lives.

.
This is all well and good
- but how do we shift, what is the process? (See more if you wish)

OR - If you want to learn more

to serve your Wholeness and Brightness in God.

Where does Darkness tend to enter?

Being out-of-alignment with God, entertaining evil; Darkness enters our lives through our spiritual choice.
We may or may not be conscious about it, but these are the usual choices of pathways into Darkness:
  1. A spiritual choice within us: turning-away from Light, into Darkness, this is Sin;
  2. Spiritual attacks from outside us: encouraging us to open more to the Darkness, making room for the Adversary.
Again, 2 main issues when we are out-of-alignment with God:

1) INSIDE: our own turning away from God, from our unique Way in God, from Life, from Light.
This turning-away spiritually is BEING in Sin, in Darkness.
What we DO in that darkness, when out of alignment with God, are sins: we miss the mark.

2) From OUTSIDE: deleterious effects are visited UPON us, upon our physical and spiritual experiences, and upon our choices.
These are the effect of the dark-side on us, when we come under the influence of unclean spirits, demons, powers, principalities...  we give up our free-will, we abdicate our God-given Authority over our own lives.

Unconsciously or Consciously, we open the door to the dark side, and we are overcome, undone.

-> WHY would we we open the door to the dark side?  see here for some reasons.

WHY would we we open the door to the dark side?

Unconsciously or Consciously,
we open the door to the dark side,
and we are overcome, undone.

WHY???

WHY WHY WHY would we we open the door to the dark side?

.
There are SO many reasons for this, but here are some popular ones:

- >  Because we want the fruit of this world more than we want the fruit of the Spirit.
We are willing to take the hand of a devil rather than the hand of the Almighty.

The famous 'deals with the devil' are about desiring the riches of this world, in an unbalanced way.  (Kind of like Jesus' third temptation)
But the people I work with, day-in and day-out, are mostly just trying to keep their 'head above water'.  (Kind of like Jesus' first and second temptations)
(see Jesus Temptations)

->  Because we have been through abuse, trauma, intense and challenging circumstances... and we say in our heart: Where is God?! HELP! In desperation, I will take any help I can get!!!

This could have happened LONG ago.  Lots of times this occurs in childhood when we are small and the 'giants' around us are sometimes (or often) unSAFE;  our world in unpredictable and out of our CONTROL.  Many people decide during childhood to accept help from the dark-side, and this stays with us until we un-earth it, and say good-bye to those energies and agreements.

->  Because life becomes too much for us!  When we get overwhelmed with life, fear, pain, responsibilities, the past, the future… most folks 'check-out', turn to addictions, compulsions, obsessions...

This is average human behavior, this is garden-variety: what else CAN we do when our load gets too great and we cannot go on, when we cannot BE with ourselves or with God, anymore?  There are other paths - but most of us don't KNOW that!
Meanwhile, in our desperation, when we turn to these addictions, we are turning even farther from BEing IN God.

.
.
When we turn to the dark-side, whatever our reasons,
the doors open farther to the unclean spirits - it becomes a vicious cycle.
A cycle which ends up in a Gordian knot: a mighty stuck-ness inside us, and a mighty mess in our lives.

God is still here - but our back is turned.

Spiritually, God gave us free-will;  Dominion/Authority: in our bodies, our lives, our world.
The less we are in charge, we enter a negative spiral: the less we are in-charge.
The more we are in charge, we enter a positive spiral: the more we are in-charge.

A central part of my ministry is to help folks close the 'doors' to the dark-side,
take back their free-will and their God-given Authority in their space, and in their lives
... and then turn the Titanic, turning their lives and their world, around.

Meditation with Jesus Temptations

This is a Meditation on Jesus Temptations,
which of course we share these Temptations with him.
You can see his temptations here.

Meditation:

This is a really fruitful section of scripture, IMO.
There is much left unsaid, below.

I am looking at this scripture regarding our Temptation
to turn from Darkenss and into our Way in Light.

.
1st 2 temptations are of the flesh – in opposite directions:
- Giving needs of the body too much weight, focusing on physical rather than spiritual needs
- Giving needs of the body not enough weight, risking it unnecessarily, disregarding its needs

.
First to note, the devil uses this phrase 2 times,
as precursors to the 1st 2 temptations - the body temptations:
“If thou art the son of God, then,,,”

the Devil says: prove it - I dare ya, I don’t think you are so special...
Temptation includes feeding emotional needs, intellectual imbalances of the body – pride, insecurity, fear

the Devil says: prove it to me, prove it to others, prove it to yourself! that you matter...
It is vital that we know who we are in God
and can own our place in the Kingdom/Reign of God,
or we are too weak and unsupported, to stand in the face of the Adversary.

.
Ask Jesus to assist you to release emotions, beliefs, lies
that have you doubt your place as a child of God.

Ask Jesus for encouragement
and to send you more certainty and faith,
so you can stand firm when the Tempter comes

.
.
Temptation 1:

'If Son thou art of God
speak that these stones may become loaves.'

Focusing on and feeding physical needs of body,
noticing where we are out of alignment with God.

This temptation reminds me of:
- Esau, who sold his birthright for a mess of pottage – for lentil mash – not seeing the forest for the trees.
- Abraham & Sarah – utilizing Hagar, Ishmael to HELP God, because God took too long…
- Adam & Eve with Snake – forbidden fruit - in the day of your eating of it -- your eyes have been opened, and ye have been as God, knowing good and evil.

.
Life is challenging and we can get very hungry.
so, we focus physically and take things into our own hands,
according to our needs and desires;

instead of following our direct spiritual path,
as the Living God leads us directly, step by step.

This is a temptation of the Dark side.
God IS our Life,
God's communication with us IS our Food,
walking our unique Way IN God IS our Blessing...
even when it seems a hungry, lonely road.
when ye turn to the right hand or when ye turn to the left, thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it.

Ask Jesus:
- When am I succumbing to my physically-focused needs and desires of the body in ways that take me out of alignment with God?
- What are the thoughts, feelings, beliefs that have me succumb to these temptations?
- Please, Jesus, help me release, heal, and fill with spiritual fruit, walking in the Way...

Addictions & Distractions are some of many temptations
that help us deal with the discord we have deep-down,
and bring us always-farther from our path IN God.

Addictions show up in many forms
- drugs legal & not, food & drink, relationships & sex, entertainment & communication, giving & taking, doing & not-doing...
we can distract ourselves with almost anything...

Addictions are like a bridge over uncrossable water
a short-cut to the promised land...
where the disturbances that cloud our everyday experience lift for a bit
- we experience that, we are Ok, we can Breathe, we are One...

But, then we a ripped-back to 'reality'.

These experiences are true and they are ours -
we Are Ok, we Can Breathe, we Are One...
this is spiritual reality, and our birthright, we can live here always.

But we must Own this within our Soul,
not sneak a taste that quickly fades, with short-cuts.

Ask Jesus:
- What you use as a short-cut? and why?

- Please, Jesus, help me release, heal, and fill with spiritual fruit, walking in the Way...

.
.
Temptation 2

(from a high place) 'If Son thou art of God, cast thyself down, God will send angels to save you'
It is not spiritual to abuse the body.
It is not spiritual to hurt the body.
It is not spiritual to take unnecessary risks with the body.

The body is a beautiful co-creation with God.
Our temple through which we love and serve the Lord;
Through which we behold and reflect Glory,
shining Gods light into the world, into the darkness.
This temptation reminds me of:
- the recently popular reality shows; where they swim with sharks, eat glass, and get knocked off high obstacle courses – for money, fame, attention...
- putting down our bodies for not fitting into a certain dress, forcing our feet into shoes that hurt and dis-form them, hating-on our bodies for their natural bone-structure, muscle-size, fat-distribution, hair/ skin/ nail structure...

Ask Jesus:
- How do I abuse, misuse, neglect my body?
- How do I put my body down, and force it to do things that hurt-it?
- Why do I do these things?
- Please, Jesus, help me release, heal, and fill with spiritual fruit, walking in the Way...

.
As we finish attention on the body
and some of the extremes of temptation around the body,
I would like to take a minute to give you are metaphor
that I work with regarding the body
that really works for me, and many of my students:
What if we relate to the body as we would a 3 year old whom we love?

Most importantly, hopefully:
We love, validate, care-for, share wonderful delights and experiences, appreciate & adore...
We act with nurturing, protection, forethought with the children we are blessed to have in our lives.

... And this is very healthy for our body, and our soul relationship with our body.
.
Also,
A child doesn’t get everything it wants, when it wants it
– 3 yr olds don’t get to decide when they go to bed.
A 3 yr old doesn’t get everything it desires, exactly when it desires
– this is not healthy for a child
... And this is not healthy for our body, and our soul relationship with our body, either.
.
Our bodies need our discipline to be safe, comfortable, healthy
and most especially to come into alignment with our spiritual purpose.
This is our spiritual responsibility,
and our spiritual blessing.
Ask Jesus:
- Please assist me to love, validate, care-for... my beautiful body
- Please assist me to have the distinctions and discipline to keep my precious body safe, comfortable, healthy...
- Please assist me be balanced, and conscious about differentiating between physical desires and spiritual direction in my life, and to act accordingly.

- Please, Jesus, help me release, heal, and fill with spiritual fruit, walking in the Way...
.
.
.
Temptation 3:
'Again doth the Devil take him to a very high mount, and doth shew to him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them, and saith to him, 'All these to thee I will give'
This is archetypal stuff
– selling your soul to the devil for….fame, fortune, power, an exciting life, a comfortable old-age...

Ask Jesus:
- What do I want more than God? More than my unique Calling in God?
- Why do I want this more than God? Instead of being conscious of the Blessings of the Presence and Love of God?

- Please, Jesus, help me release, heal, and fill with spiritual fruit, walking in the Way...

.
Now, let's look more personally
– we look outside ourselves to get our needs met.

IMO/E,
Our needs can be met outside us,
but first they are met within by God.

What are we looking for out in the world to fill the hole within us?
Relationships, love, nurturing, sex, someone to look up to us, someone to validate us...

I am Very familiar with these temptations, maybe you are to?

If we make a deal with the dark side,
if we focus on physical desires, identity, journey - instead of spiritual...

- Maybe we can avoid pain, find pleasure, feel safe, have our loved ones be safe, enjoy power, love and respect of people...
- Maybe we can have a good Partner, a good family, a good social standing, a good church member.
- Maybe we can be successful in serving people and sharing the good news...

These temptations can be very wily and very subtle…

Ask Jesus:
- What do I want more than God? More than my unique Calling in God?
- Why do I want this more than God? Instead of being conscious of the Blessings of the Presence and Love of God?
- Please, Jesus, help me release, heal, and fill with spiritual fruit, walking in the Way...

.
What was Jesus temptation in the world:
- Giving, caring, loving, serving, taking away pain, averting suffering & horror?
- Having his Disciples understand what he was sharing; be led-by Abba and experience the Reign/Kingdom?
- Equipping his Disciples be able to Act as he did - healing, casting-demons, sharing the Good News of the Reign/Kingdom?
IDK, Ask him ; )

Maybe we can see some of our temptations in what Jesus may have wanted very dearly.

Ask Jesus
- Please help me to focus on my own page, on my own path in God, doing what God calls me to do
- Please assist me to not getting hooked by what others are or are not doing; on the judgment of how the world is ‘going to hell in a hand basket’, or how I may want to save them.
- Please, Jesus, help me release, heal, and fill with spiritual fruit, walking in the Way...

Thank you, Jesus!
For so much,
especially helping me put my attention on God.

.
.
.
'Then doth the Devil leave him, and lo, messengers came and were ministering to him.'

Ask God:
- to send angels to help meet my needs
- to send angels to help meet the needs of my loved-ones.
- to send angels to help meet the needs of the world.

- for a healing – spiritual as well as physical: emotional, intellectual, relational…
- for love & validation
- is there is anything it would be beneficial to know?

Rest, Just be IN God.

.
.
want to delve more, heal the places of temptation?
you may consider: WHY would we we open the door to the dark side?

Allowing the Blessing of TIME

We are spirit
and we are in a learning/ healing/ growth opportunity
here on sandbox earth.

We CAN change, in one swell foop, ahem, fell swoop : )

Because we are spirit,
we can choose spiritually and we change,
as we do, our world shifts.

This happens, and it can happen for you.
One workshop, one reading, one hearing the direct voice of God
and being transformed.

This kind of thing happens all the time
- and it can happen for you.

.
Meanwhile, I find that our 'core issues'
are often more intransigent
(we have a hard time shifting, quickly).
It is not because we, or God,
are not powerful and capable of miracles.

More likely it is because, as I am saying a lot lately,
'Where we trip is our treasure'
(paraphrase of Joseph Campbell ; )

Anyway our core issues and how they show up in our life,
IS where our treasure lies -
So Dig, is the coaching. (There's gold in them there hills ; )

Many folks think that our core issues,
our deep and early wounding can never really change.

We Know, this is not true;
AND at the same time,
turning the Titanic usually takes Time.

When our eye is single, our body is full of Light

When we are in Alignment with God, spiritually focused, we are filled with God's Light.
The lamp of the body is the (spiritual) eye;
if therefore thine eye be single (whole, mature),
thy whole body will be light
 - Jesus, according to Matthew
That's so good, let's read a different perspective on what Jesus has to say on the subject:
No man, when he hath lighted a lamp, putteth it in a cellar, neither under the bushel,
but on the stand, that they which enter in may see the light.
The lamp of thy body is thine eye:
when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light;
but when it is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.
Look therefore whether the light that is in thee be not darkness.
If therefore thy whole body be full of light, having no part dark, it shall be wholly full of light,
as when the lamp with its bright shining doth give thee light.
 - Jesus, according to Luke
Most folks don't really know what this verse means,
but this practice is central to Meditation with Jesus:
you can bring this way of BEING into fruition, if you choose to.

You can be more and more a lamp for God's Light:
comfortably, easily SHINING within yourself, and in your world!

Jesus Temptations, and ours

1Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry. 3And the tempter came and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” 4But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.’”
5Then the devil took Him into the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple,
6and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written,
         ‘HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU’;
         and
‘ON their HANDS THEY WILL BEAR YOU UP,
SO THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE YOUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE.’”
7Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written, ‘YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.’”
8Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory; 9and he said to Him, “All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.” 10Then Jesus said to him, “Go, Satan! For it is written, ‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.’” 11Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.
If you are interested, I have a Meditation here to interact with these temptations for ourselves.
